The Supply Chain & Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound transportation across all company facilities. The position manages freight movements by truck, rail, intermodal, ocean container, and bulk tanker to support reliable, safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery of ingredients, commodities, and finished products.

Working closely with Procurement, Operations, Production, Sales, suppliers, carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers, the coordinator monitors shipments, resolves transportation issues, maintains accurate documentation, and identifies opportunities to reduce costs and improve transportation efficiency. The position also supports logistics reporting, inventory accuracy, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Transportation Coordination

• Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments of bulk commodities, packaged ingredients, and some finished products.
• Schedule and track transportation by full truckload, less-than-truckload, rail, intermodal, ocean container, and bulk tanker.
• Coordinate delivery appointments and ensure suppliers, carriers, receiving teams, Operations, and Production are aligned on timing, quantity, and delivery requirements.
• Monitor shipments from origin to destination and communicate delays, service disruptions, or changes to affected stakeholders.
• Resolve transportation issues involving delays, shortages, damages, missed deliveries, and incomplete documentation.
• Maintain accurate freight records, bills of lading, rail documentation, container information, and shipment tracking data.

Rail, Intermodal, and Ocean Freight

• Coordinate railcar and intermodal container movements and maintain communication with carriers and service providers.
• Monitor railcar cycle times, vessel schedules, container movements, and equipment return requirements.
• Work with Operations and Production to support timely unloading and reduce demurrage and detention charges.
• Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, ports, drayage providers, and carriers to support import clearance and on-time delivery.
• Ensure required import and transportation documentation is complete and submitted on time.

Transportation Planning and Carrier Management

• Develop transportation schedules that support production requirements, inventory needs, and customer commitments.
• Work with Procurement to secure transportation capacity for incoming ingredients.
• Obtain and compare freight rates and assist with carrier selection, contract reviews, and freight negotiations.
• Build effective working relationships with transportation providers and maintain carrier contact and service records.
• Monitor carrier performance, transportation costs, transit times, and service reliability.
• Identify opportunities to improve truck and trailer utilization, reduce empty miles, and balance company-owned transportation assets with third-party carriers.
• Support contingency planning during transportation and supply chain disruptions.

Reporting and Continuous Improvement

• Maintain transportation reports, scorecards, dashboards, and key performance indicators.
• Analyze freight costs, carrier performance, on-time delivery, transit times, demurrage, detention, and company truck utilization.
• Use Excel, Power Query, Power BI, ERP systems, and other available tools to improve reporting and transportation visibility.
• Identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and service improvements, and provide actionable recommendations to management. 
• Support logistics improvement projects, standard operating procedures, automation, and appropriate use of AI-assisted tools.
• Assist with improving shipment visibility, operational efficiency, and transportation processes across facilities.

Receiving and Inventory Accuracy

• Support accurate and timely inventory transactions and receiving records.
• Identify, document, and escalate quantity variances, damage, and missing or incomplete shipment documentation.
• Work with Procurement, warehouse, receiving, and logistics personnel to resolve receipt discrepancies.
• Participate in scheduled inventory counts and help ensure that established count procedures are followed consistently. 

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, procurement, or freight coordination.
• Experience managing multiple transportation modes preferred.
• Feed, agriculture, grain, commodity, manufacturing, or food industry experience considered a strong asset.
• Experience coordinating bulk commodity shipments preferred.
• Experience working closely with Operations and Production teams in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience using advanced Excel, Power BI, business intelligence, or other data analytics tools preferred.
• Experience using AI-assisted tools for reporting, analysis, process improvement, or operational decision support is considered an asset.
  

EDUCATION

•       Diploma or degree in logistics, transportation, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
•       An equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience will be considered.
• SCMP, CITT, or a related supply chain or transportation designation is an asset.

Responsible to the Operations Manager, the Production Manager is responsible for supervising and directing production personnel related to the day-to-day operations of the mill, coordinating, directing, and evaluating of work flow and activities of the feed mill employees. The Production Manager is responsible for implementing and maintaining company standards, policies, and procedures. This is a "hands-on" position, requiring office time as well as considerable time in overseeing mill staff and being in contact with customers and suppliers.

Responsible to the Mill Operations Manager, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for supervising and directing maintenance personnel related to the day-to-day maintenance operations of the 3 facilities. The Assistant Maintenance Manager is responsible for all the repair and maintenance of building and equipment in the mills, for prioritizing jobs and evaluating and selecting the best method for accomplishing repairs. Working together with production staff, Maintenance 1 personnel ensure that repair and maintenance have limiting impact on production, ensuring that amount of “downtime” is kept to a minimum. Also responsible for the management of fleet administration that supports the growth of fleet operations.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1.      The Assistant Maintenance Manager will be responsible and act as a primary point for Operation on mechanical repairs and maintenance of all the equipment and all fleet requirements in a hands-on approach and determine financial effectiveness and operational efficiency.

2.      Ensure the quality of the work performed by employees as well as by external contractors

3.      Complete Advanced Maintenance Management System (AMMS) program at all 3 facilities and maintain once complete.

4.      Schedule all Mill downtime with the Operations Manager directly.

5.      Responsible for providing a weekly written report to the Mill Managers of hours worked by maintenance crew separated out by project.

6.      Responsible for the Fleet Maintenance Control Report detailing inspections, concerns and downtime.

7.      Responsible for a monthly Fleet Tire Management Report which will include the inventory, purchasing, and usage of each item.

8.      Responsible for a written bimonthly report on goals in each of the 3 facility and a timeline of completion.

9.      Responsible for assisting in the aid of quarterly budgets for all 3 facilities with Operation Manager.

10.   Responsible for being on target with each budget.

11.   Responsible for an inventory tracking system for all tools, equipment and supplies including belting, steel, motors and spare equipment with the Maintenance Manager.

12.   Responsible for providing a minimum of 3 quotes for each capital project from potential contractors on all separate facets of work required with the Maintenance Manager.

13.   Responsible for bi-monthly focus meetings with the Mill Operations Manager.

14.   Responsible for Creating a National Safety code for Carriers to be stored on the M:/ drive.

15.   Responsible for the cleanliness and organization within the workshop. Ensure all tools and spare parts are warehoused in an efficient and safe manner.

16.   Responsible for managing, supervising and training of all Maintenance staff in correct repair and maintenance procedures, ensuring jobs are done safely and efficiently, ensuring that all requisite tasks are handled quickly and efficiently within budget   restraints.

17.   Facilitate open and effective communications with other departments, ensuring optimal quality standards.

18.   Responsible for installing and maintaining production machines and the plant facilities,

19.   Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of all equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.

20.   Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.

21.   Operate computerized preventative maintenance program.

22.   Involved in all aspects of building maintenance requirements for all new construction, renovations or updates to current systems.

23.   Set priorities for preventative maintenance work orders, maintenance requisitions and scheduled work.

24.   Responsible for the cleanliness and organization within the workshop. Ensure all tools and spare parts are warehoused in efficient and safe manner.

25.   Assure vehicle-related functions and activities comply with established laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

26.   Negotiate contracts and service level agreements for third party suppliers and/or service providers.

27.   Research and evaluate new vehicles and coordinate the purchasing and assure optimal pricing and quality of vehicles for the business.

·        A Millwright ticket.
